The exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) increased in 2021 to relatively “high” levels in comparison with 2019, which was driven by the increase in exports of eight sub-sectors, according to data obtained by Petra News. The ACI’s exports increased by 17 percent in 2021 compared to 2019, reaching JOD5,462.
These figures are a positive indicator that the Kingdom’s industry overcame hardships and enhanced its presence in major international markets, due to its “high” quality products and competitive edge.
The vast majority of the ACI’s exports in 2021 went to the US, India, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, valuing at JOD3.111 billion, according to the chamber’s official data.
A Closer Look at the Numbers
Exports to the US increased in 2021 by 91 percent to become at the forefront of Arab and foreign countries that import the most of ACI’s exports, valuing at JOD1,049 billion, compared to JD548 million in 2019.
Exports to India increased in 2021 by 31 percent in comparison with 2019, reaching approximately JOD922 million.
Exports to Iraq increased by two percent in 2021 recording JOD559 million, in comparison with 2019’s JOD548 million.
As for exports to Saudi Arabia, the figure decreased by three percent compared to JOD596 million in 2019, reaching to JOD581 million.
Exports to Syria increased by 36 percent compared to JOD69 million in 2019, reaching approximately JOD95 million.
ACI exports increased to many Arab and foreign countries in 2021, most notably in Indonesia, Egypt, Brazil, Algeria, Turkey, Sudan, Yemen, Malaysia and Spain, among others.

The ACI’s exports dropped in many countries in 2021, including Palestine, the UAE, China, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Italy, Bahrain and Tunisia, among others.
Last year’s exports in the mining industries valued at JOD1.452 billion, chemical and cosmetics at JOD1,070 billion, in addition to foodstuff, agricultural and livestock at approximately JOD657 million. The engineering, electrical and information technology sectors exports amounted to JOD653 million, therapeutic and medical supplies were at approximately JOD603 million, and leather and textiles reached approximately JD452 million.
